Nuclear power plants in Germany will be shut down in 2022. Renewable energies are supposed to replace nuclear power. In the north of Germany, wind energy is more efficient than in the south. To transport this electricity from north to south, two new routes are to be built. The cost is around EUR 30 billion. The concept of Local Hubs is to reduce these costs by 10 billion EUR or more. Local hubs are autonomous and scalable cells. The size of these cells ranges from a house to a large company. The aim is to achieve the highest possible self-supply rate.
